The Old Man and the Sea a Lee Jaram’s new work produced in three years. The winner of the 6th Doosan Artist Award, Prize, Lee is an internationally and domestically celebrated Pansori composer and singer, acclaimed for her works such as Sacheon-ga, Eokcheokga, Stranger’s Song, and An Ugly Person/Murder. Lee steadily produces works which develop plays and modern novels into the various subjects and forms of Pansori. A Pansori re-creation of Ernest Hemingway’s novel of the same title, The Old Man and the Sea sheds light on Lee’s own production of Pansori, filling the stage with only sound, and the audience not only just listens to the story, but joins the singer in charging the stage. The Old Man and the Sea is direction by Park Jihye from DAC Artist Yangson Project, who received the Donga Theater Award for Best New Director for An Ugly Person/Murder, and with whom Lee has worked with since then. Yeo Shindong is the art director of the work.
