Private Report on Byung-jae Moon’s Humor Code seeks to understand why Byung-jae Moon, a once undisputed joker, has lost his enthusiasm for making others laugh, turning into a quiet, serious figure instead. Illustrating the transition from the “fun Byung-jae Moon” to “boring Byung-jae Moon,” the play investigates humor in the present age as well as the relationship between one’s identity and others. It playfully outlines the private, cultural, and social backgrounds that affected Moon’s humor code. Featuring a different guest who can testify to Moon’s humor in each show, the play experiments with the possibility of expanding private experiences to common values.
Moon, a writer, director, and performer, works with his personal experiences and memories to create documentary plays that are influenced by lecture performances. He is part of Creative Tukchida with actors Jiyun Park and Kiyong Nam. Creative tookchida’s performances express the shifts in consciousness and enlightenment that occurs while processing things that strike us out of the blue.
