Love Story of a Dog Walker

Playwright Donghoon Kang, a DAC Artist, explores the concept of coexistence while examining genera­tional conflicts within the rapidly changing landscape of Korean society. He focuses on the potential bond between individuals who are not blood relatives. Kang’s plays also examine the emergence of new forms of love and family structures in contemporary society. Notably, his play That’s It was honored with the Best Play Award at the 60th Dong-A Theater Awards. When 95-year-old Sukrye, who amassed great wealth during Korea’s rapid economic development in the 1950s, disappears, Soyoung, the family heiress currently in her 40s, returns to Korea. She hires Hamin, a young dog walker in his 20s, and the two fall in love. Through the lives of Sukrye and Soyoung, Love Story of a Dog Walker sheds light on the ennui, anxiety, and emptiness brought by wealth.
