The Gothic Extra Girl examines the aftermath of a murder, exploring the pain and turmoil experienced by the families left behind. The play centers around a murder case in which the perpetrator, after committing the crime for unknown reasons, takes her own life. This production was recognized as the “New Work of the Year in the Cradle of 2022 Performing Arts Creation.”
Soomin, the twin sister of the murderer, conceals her true feelings behind an all-black gothic metal facade. Ironically, as she takes on the responsibilities of her sister, she sheds her formerly isolated life and steps into the public eye. 
The play tells the story of Soomin, a young woman who breaks free from the weight of someone else’s burden. Its message is that our battered lives can find new meaning when we confront the scars of others and tend to them.  
The Gothic Extra Girl features live music and accompaniment that enhance the psychological depth of the characters and respond in real-time to the actors, thereby propelling the story forward. Korean subtitles are available for all performances, and select shows offer closed audio deions.
