Penguin Apparel is a project which began by shinsowoozoo, an artist working at Penguin Market in Sillim-dong, and Myung-ja Kang, a female worker at the now-defunct Guro Industrial Complex’s Daewoo Apparel. Penguin Apparel: Story of One Summer, presented in 2018, dealt with the labor environment and the relationship with colleagues through a conversation between a veteran seamstress with 40 years of experience and a novice seamstress. Since then, they have shown projects that present the various talks conducted with women of diverse fields on the philosophy of labor. Penguin Apparel radio edition, an extension of the series, is based on a story that unfolds through radio sounds played by the workers while they work in the sewing factories. The female collaborators that are gathered centering around Penguin Apparel, sit at the sewing table and talk about their own narrative, and witness the coincidental exchanges that are made.
